John Ridley Stroop: cognitive load

The John Ridley Stroop effect illustrates how easy it is to confuse visitors on a webpage. Just a small amount of conflict or problems with your content and page design will increase the cognitive effort of processing information by a factor of 2 or 3. So what seems clear and obvious to you may well be creating content conflict and a problem for your visitors.
